do you mean succor?   I think we all want to be free > & prison is the opposite of freedom.  Plus, if you're wrongly convicted, you want to escape whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Papi was French  > real name was Henri Charrière.  Papi was short for Papillon the French word for butterfly.  But the movie I saw, the actor spoke the King's English.
