  1. im a serious swimmer

im 13 years old and i plan on making it to 2012 olympics

its not a dream its a goal

its not that its not unrealistic they just like seeing a guy or girl representing their country in an awesome sport

also its like the most popular and healthiest sport in america

  2. everyone has a dream!

  3. Why do you have to be like that?! Not everyone wants to swim as an olympian. The thing is people have goals and dreams and they want to work to be there and represent their country. Do you have a problem with that? I mean I am a simmer and my goal is to go to the Olympics but a lot of people just want to be in it for the fame. Michel Phelps is the fastest swimmer in history and he is from the U.S. People look up to him and want to be like him. If you think that they are wrong for wanting to be in the olympics then you are wrong.

  4. its just the hype of seeing it on tv .its almost like when you watch a movie you think ya that would be so cool .But you forget about it five minutes later .

  5. Hey, don't be hatin'. The Olympics offer a great opportunity for regular joes to set their goals high. Don't crush peoples dreams! It is obviously possible to get to the olympics, so if people didn't try, there would be no athletes, and your country wouldn't win any medals!!

  6. Becuase they want a Gold Medal to become a natonal Hero for their countries.

Swimming is a very over-rated sport..

  7. Even though I know I could never become an Olympian, I love swimming and go to do laps every day that I can. I have been doing this for years and for the most part it's never been very busy, but since the Olympics started, the pool has been INSANELY crowded. At first I was little annoyed, then I realized, hey I don't own the pool. These people are entitled to their dreams, especially the little kids. There's nothing wrong with aspiring to something. Plus, anything that motivates Americans to put down the burger and get off the couch is a good thing, right? Now I think it's great that more people are swimming and that swimming as a sport is getting the attention it deserves.

  8. Having mingled with Olympic swimmers, it's a lot harder than these people think. I trained for awhile at Olympic pace and found that mentally and emotionally it was torture. Hour after hour of laps after laps 6 days a week... There is no time for anyone or anything else.

A dream is one thing, but you have to be r-e-a-l-i-s-t-i-c. People forget Dara Torres never really fell out of shape after her other Olympic games and she had the money for a coach and to travel. Someone said one of the divers got a late start, but they forgot she had grown up doing gymnastics...

Regular lap swimmers are some of the most competitive, vicious, and agressive people I've ever met. Fights about pool etiqutte erupt often.

  9. i would want to be in the olympics becasue i have  STRONG sence IN nationalaty, and for Canada, i would do anything to make it better :D,

however, being in the olympics is not one of my dreams, i knwo its not possible..... well at least for me, however the olympics HAVE "inspired" to start swimming, though i havn;t even once ran it threw my head to swim for the olympics... i donno, jsut from watching all their hard work, and pay off, i would like to know what it feels like, plus i already know swimming is very healthy, and i enjoy it, so why not be a competative swimmer??

but yes, for people to want to BE in the olympics, is VERY unlikly and i think it silly to keep asking, if you want to know, then try , and if you don;t make, then you know.....
