What is it with cops and doughnuts?

i have just started wondering this i asked my dad and he said it was because they get them free but why doughnuts hy not like crasaunts or something why doughnuts?

Everyone likes donughts!  Especailly when they're FREE!!!  They give you an extra boost of energy that can help someone get through that graveyard shift, and are just big enough to settle anyone's stomach!

However, times are supposedly changing.  The big thing these days is becoming bagels...I guess because of the weight problem americans are starting to have

I don't eat donuts but I am fond of coffee in the morning.  If donuts had caffeine I would probably eat them.

it goes back to when most places were not open at all except for the 24 hr donut shop.  When the choice is a bag of stale chips out of a vending machine or a cup of hot joe and a donut, the donut is going to win!

Even now, the pickings where I work are pretty slim after midnight.

I think its because donuts are cheap and donuts also represent a certain part of the human anatomy, if you know what I mean. I think when the idea of free donuts for cops originated it was meant as a joke kind of thing but hey those men in blue kinda liked the idea of diggin in, if you know what I mean.

It's a great snack.  It's fast, and easy.  It also makes a great dessert after I finish eating (not all at the same time) lobster, steak, shrimp, calamari, Mexican food, gyros, hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, Chinese food, beef sandwiches, Maxwell Street polish.  I have to stop, I'm getting hungry.  Donuts are a last resort when you don't have much time.

Its because in the old days donut shop and cafes wanted extra security for free so they would give free coffee or donuts to police officers

there are lots of times cops don't have time for a meal, donuts are fast energy food.

We sure miss our Winchell donut shops, now those were the best.

And a donut shop is a great place for a second briefing.

  Plumbers (buttcrack)

  Mailmen (going postal)

  Librarians (nerdy women with glasses on a chain)

dough nuts are tasty and good..most cops get free coffee at a lot of restaurants as the owners like the police presence.

ONE  thing for sure.  You never see a dough nut shop robbed and they are opened 24 hours a day.  It is convenient for the police to eat dough nuts ..even at work nobody brings in croissants as that would be too weird and I have worked over 40 years in factories and offices.
