What is it with me and cars. Problem with my Mondeo TDCI?

have recently had the turbo replaced...that seems fine now. However, the car has developed this intermittent screeching noise (comes and goes) seems to be coming from the nearside driverside perhaps the wheel. My garage cannot find the cause only saying if it was something serious the noise would be constant. Less that helpful as I have no one else who could look at it. If I'd didn't know better I would have said it was a noisy fan belt but seeing that the Mondeo does not have a fan belt that would be hard. Only belt I know that it has is the alternator belt.

I know it's difficult but has anyone the slightest idea what it could be.

  1. Babe you're a woman what does a woman know source The Mummy.

  2. Has the fan belt been replaced recently - if YES - then you are getting moisture build up on the belt - this is quite common when new belts are fitted. Start the car with the bonnet up and spray the belt with a little (emphasis on LITTLE) WD40.

See if that cures it -

  3. have them check the brakes and also the alt belt.

  4. It's most likely to be the alternator belt slipping - this is what's commonly called the fan belt
