What is it with the "no speed limit" thing on the Thames east of Teddington lock ?

Hi Boaties,

There I am, chugging along in my narrowboat under Blackfriars Bridge, and this corporate thing flashed by at about 60mph with a police launch in escort, heading for the runway at City airport.

It spilt my beer, and knocked my guitar over

I can only do about 7mph on the thing, so resorted to just blowing the horns

To no avail

I have half a mind to bring my skiing speedboat down, and fly past the Houses of Parliament at 80mph

Beggar them !

What do you reckon ?

Bob

  1. Hi

You never know why, It could be that the boat was taking a hart to be transplanted into a child! or a scientist was being taken to defuse a nuclear bomb in the centre of Oxford! or the chancellor is going to France to get his weekly duty free booze? You never know.

  2. The trip boats are just as bad - we queried if they were exempt from the speed limit.

Just relax and think how lucky we are not to have to hare all over like that.

Only done that part of the Thames once in our little 30' nb and must admit that some of the traffic can be a bit speedy

  3. Hi  Bob the Boat, don't be so daft you know you can't beat them so why join them ! just enjoy your self after all not all of us are as lucky as you are to have a narrow boat ,I can only dream. PUrrrrrrrrrr.

  4. Go for it Bob! Create enough wash to upset their drinks on the patio!!!!
