What is kosher gelatin?

I recently decided to be a vegetarian so I have been looking out for things with gelatin. I t happened to read the ingredients on yogurt and I saw kosher gelatin. What is it? Does it contain animal?

  1. Kosher gelatin is still from animal parts, but the animal was killed supervised by a jewish rabbi, which doenst make it better because the kosher way of killing may be way worse than the captive bolt gun killing.  They hang and slit. : (  Sorry for the detail.

  3. There are two kinds: one from fish, and another from animals slaughtered by kosher law.

  4. Kosher meens it doesn't have any pig byproducts in it, but it still has meat byproducts in it. Kosher gelatin is made by boiling down cow hoofs, So vegetarians don't eat any gelatin. Things like: gummy bears, marshmallows, Jello, and some yogarts. Always read the labels.

  5. Sorry to be the one to break it to you but all gelatin is of animal origin. Kosher gelatin just happens to be subject to stricter regulation than non-kosher gelatin. Agar might be an acceptable substitute for you but the price is much higher.
