These are characters from Alex Haley's book Roots. It was also made into a very good mini series. OJ was in it as were most popular african american actors from the time (late 70's early 80's I think).

you mean kunta kinta who was renamed toby by his slave owner he is from the book roots by alex haley ...there is also a mini series out about the book

I think you mean Kunta Kinte. If so then Kunta Kinte (or Kunta Kante) is the central character of the first half of the novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family by Alex Haley, and of the mini-series Roots, based on the book.

I think it's spelled Kunta Kinte and is from Alex Haley's "Roots".  You knew that, didn't you?

I'd have thought all black Americans would have read Roots by now. It's a brilliant piece of work by Alex Haley. I wish they'd bring the television series back again to the British screens, it was great stuff.
