    Lamotrigine stabilizes voltage-dependent channels in the brain.  This prevents the release of chemicals that would stimulate the nervous system and lead to seizure.  It reaches maximum blood concentration in 1 1/2 to 5 hours.  Lamotrigine is eliminated from the body by the liver.

    Most common side effects include headache, dizziness, nausea, weakness, tiredness, runny nose, double vision, and blurred vision.
