What is lead made out of and is it poisonous?

Like lead from a pencil for example.

lead is an element. which means lead is like a primary color,  it isn't made out of anything but lead. it is itself. lead is poisonous because it is a heavy metal and slows arterial flow, making you stupid.

im not sure what it is made of but it is poisonous but pencils are made of graphite now ( if they weren't id be screwed, i got some graphite in my hand : (

Pencil lead is mostly carbon and is harmless. Pencils in ancient times used to be made out of actual metallic lead which is also good to write with because it is soft. It is also sweet tasting which is a big disadvantage because it is really messes up your neurons being poisonous.

there is such a thing as lead poisoning, but the lead in a pencil is not made out of real lead any more. What I want to know is why you would ask that question? Did you swallow pencil lead or somthing?

i think that led is made from graphite. i also dont think its poisonous, but can give u and infection
