  1. I would say Verizon.  MCI was bought by Verizon so even if it is still being offered as MCI your really dealing with Verizon.

  2. If you are on a fixed budget, verizon has something called "lifeline." It gives you basic phone service for a very small amount of money. Verizon and MCI are merging...so eventually they will be the same price. If i were you I would go through verizon...more solid and well known company, and we care about our customers!

  3. Do you have a choice? Most of the time you just have to go with whoever covers your particular area. I had Verizon before and the absolute cheapest thing I could get (no long distance, no features, basically just a dial tone with local calling only) was about $25 after taxes and everything.

  4. Verizon is on $19.99 a month unlimited local and domestic long distance. If you are in an area that they don't normally cover there might be a $200 deposit required. Verizon is best deal in the country right now. I actually do know about this topic and location has a lot to do with it. If there are not a lot of providers in your area you might not have a choice. If there is a choice it still say Verison. Some companies that took over after AT&T broke up lock you into horrible rates.
