  1. It depends on where you live- around here nannys make $15-$20 an hour. Teenage babysitters watching the kids for a few hours every now and then usually make $5-$8 an hour. Daycares typically pay their employees around $10-$15 an hour. The daycare center nearest to me costs $271.00 a week for an infant to attend full time- up to 10 hours a day.

  2. If it is for the summer I know many teens would love a full-time babysitting job, just something where they come over every day and they work for cheap, I would do it for $3 an hour per kid, or $40 a day.

If it's during the school year I would do daycare because then the child will meet other kids, and won't spend all his time with one person. My mom used to have one and she charged $2.50 an hour per kid, but I know most are more expensive than that.

EDIT: Amber, as a teenage babysitter, I can tell you that while I am babysitting, I am not lazy at all. We watch very little T.V., I make a point to always be in the room with the kid no matter what they're doing. I play actual games with them, (Parent's always tell me that when I'm gone the kids always try to get them to play red light green light and did I teach them this?) I even tidy up the house a little when the kids are taking a nap. You can find very capable teenage babysitters if you interview them first and find someone you know and trust.

  3. Go for a sitter they typically get $5 an hour but the good ones are more expensive $7. A sitter is more careful with the kid because the attention is only on one kid. Go for someone young because there really careful and cheap. Also go for someone you know and trust like a younger sibling or neice or nephew. Be careful who takes care of the child. Daycare is just too dangerous and you cannot trust stangers with a 2 month old. The babysitter should be at least 12 but not more than 15 years old. Older kids will sneak in friends. Younger ones don't know how to take care of kids yet.

  4. First off, a 2 month-old gets older and is awake more, and needs more interaction. Unless you plan on giving raises every week, don't start with a low salary based on hours spent sleeping.

A good daycare would likely cost you MUCH less than a good nanny. In fact, nannies on the low end of the pay scale make $400 per week in many areas, for a 40 - 50 hour week. Many good, experienced nannies make $15 per hour in larger cities.

Daycare will be around $200 for an infant. More for better quality.

If money is a concern, consider family daycare. It is usually the cheapest alternative, costing about $100 per week.

A teen? Not a good idea, even though they'd be cheaper than a nanny. You get what you pay for, and a child needs the best care you can afford.

  5. sorry...I didn't trust anyone to watch my 2 month old but family

  6. A full time nanny will be more expensive. Ten dollers/ hr. is actually the lower end of the scale (it depends on where you live and age of child ect.)  But if the nanny is a professional they are definitly worth the money........... if you can afford it.  If not be VERY picky about the day care you choose, some really arn't that great.  Always look into the daycares background and ask for and contact as many references you can.  Also drop in at a busy time of the day and see how they interact with the children.

  7. i have a three year old and a 17 month old (both girls) and i perfer an adult who has or has had experience with children to watch my children. teenagers are lazy and do not watch the child very closely, let alone has the patients or know what to do with a child, especially a 2 month old.  i would suggest hiring a nanny or someone who knows you and is available and has had experience with infants. and taking care of an infant is a big responsibility and should not be taken lightly. as for the pay i'd say about 5-7 dollars an hour, just like a regular day job. it's a lot of hard work! i hope you find someone great! i hate daycares! too many germs and not enough one on one attention that the child needs. daycares are not all the same who knows you may find one you like. good luck!
