What is life like as an officer in the army?

I have been going back and forth for the past 8 months on rather I should enlist in the Air force as an E-3 or go into the Army as an officer. Everyone says life in the Air force is much better than the Army but what about the Officers. I can see an enlisted person having to settle for crappy things but do Officers have it as bad?

I had plenty of friends who were and few who still are in the military.

As a rule it's almost always better to be an Officer than NCO but not always. Right now the Army is hungry for Officers because so many Captains and Lieutenants have bailed out over the war in Iraq. In the next couple of years the Army will have a huge shortage of middle-management officers to send into combat. So do you like combat?

Also never fully believe what the military tells you. The military is the only branch of government that can not be sued for breach of contract. As one of my friends found out the hard way. The Air Force promised him flight training but ended up putting him in a missile silo near Warren Air Base, Cheyenne Wyoming -it was either that or prison. Oh yes for three months out of the year Cheyenne is beautiful the rest of the year f-ing bleak and cold.

Lol! You are just like me! I'm thinking the same thing! I finished my degree and want to join the Air Force as an Officer, but keep on meeting brick walls! It is definetly not easy to become an Officer in the Air Force! Believe it or not, I am actually leaning more towards enlisted in the Air Force than Officer in the Army!
