  1. Kingston is a lovely city on the water - it should be a great place to live, I know it is a great place to visit!

It is also a University city.

  2. I was born and raised in Kingston...then took off for other parts of the world for a few years and have now returned to raise my own children here.

Kingston is a great city with a quirky personality.  When visiting, you'll see the pretty downtown, the new big box stores in the west end where the city is expanding, the lake, lots of parks, festivals, the beautiful buildings of Queens University, etc...

Keep in mind Kingston's "darker side".  The names Millhaven, Joyceville, Kingston, Collins Bay, and Frontenac all precede the word penitentiary (as in federal) and are all located in and around Kingston.  It will do you good to remember where a large portion of our population comes from.

If you do decide to come here, try to stick to the south side of the city for housing (that's where the hospitals are anyway, for work!) or central at least.  Better schools are also on the south side.

Do some more research, and good luck in your choices!
