  1. the real world pretty much boils down to survival...you have to have food, shelter and clothing, this includes rent and utilities.  so, yes a job pretty much comes first unless you're independently wealthy!

  2. To me, life is mainly about home and family.  In there too, is work  - I'm lucky, I work at what I love to do, and the money I get paid makes it possible to give a good home life to my family.

  3. Being happy !

Here's a clue that many people should learn; if you live beyond your means you will have the brief happiness of instant gratification, but you will have the longer term unhappiness of debt and bills.  If you live BENEATH your means you will have savings and  no debt and generally can live quite nicely and happily.   Being *reasonably* frugal is sort of a challenge and can be quite interesting too.

The hard part is to convince yourself to be an individual.   You don't need the $2500 computer, the $2000/month apartment, the $40,000 car, the $1500 suit and the $4 coffee to be happy, but other people and corporations convince you to buy these things.  You indebt yourself for these unsatisfying things and it's a mistake.  Instead try to find *independently* what YOU personally like and enjoy those things within your means; not the things to impress others, or the things presented with flashy ads.

If you dislike what you do for a job, you will spend much of your time unhappy at work, and dreading the idea of going to work.  Of course everyone will have "bad days" on the job, but if you are regularly unhappy at work you should find another job.  EVEN IF IT PAYS LESS.  You can never be very successful at a job you don't enjoy.  DO analyze what exactly you disliked in the job, and try to avoid the problem in the next job.

  4. To me, work is about making enough money to live my life.  Living my life means paying my bills (which include housing) so I don't have to spend time worrying about them.  If you are faced with choices about paying bills vs. housing and job vs. life, your life style is probably not in balance with the reality of your employment.
