  1. Well over half of population in Israel is secular, however Jerusalem proportionally will have higher Orthodox residents. Actually Orthodox population in Jerusalem is increasing.

Now here's a surprising thing, people in Israel are very tolerant especially compared to US, seriously. Ha'retz frequently deals with this topic. On one of the forums they were telling somebody else that how tolerant they are in Tel Aviv. However I would be cautious in Jerusalem.

Israel holds g*y parades every year, only Orthodox and Muslim community opposing it (actually rather condemning it). There was no problem in Tel Aviv, however rally in Jerusalem was viciously condemned by Orthodox and Muslim communities. That obviously is a sacred place for both religions.

From my understanding people in Israel are more tolerant than people in US. For further information post the same question under 'Israel' category.

  2. its probably next to impossible to live there, under those conditions.

  3. Not everybody is religious in Israel, there are a lot of g*y people, like in other countries in the world.....nobody said nothing......Everybody life his live, is another one in the society, even have a lot of places for g**s, clubs, discotheques, saunas.......The people in Israel, are israelies, the religious people are "jewish".
