  1. Hi, I am from America and moved here to ireland last year. I live in Dublin. Limerick is about 2 hours southwest of me. If you go there, rent a car and travel around within a 45 mile radius, very beautiful area, close to the ocean as well. Go to Galway, County Clare, and in both areas you can take a 2 minute flight to Aran islands which is nice as well, if you need more info send me an email and i can give you loads of information

  2. Limerick city is not the best place to go in that regio, not much to see or do, galway would be a much better choice, the countryside in the area is lovely especailly along the river shannon, some of the small towns around lough Derg (a lake) are worth a visit,

  3. American who lived in Limerick (aka Stab City).  There's nothing really exciting here.  Frank McCourt and a Castle (don't remember the name) are the only things that claim it's fame.  It has the most rainy days per year than any city in Ireland and the highest suicide rate.  It's mainly a working-class city with some great pubs.  But I didn't find a place in Ireland that didn't have a few great pubs.  I would head an hour or so north to Galway and spend your time there.
