What is lthe law on compulsory service charges in resturants?

it's optional, you can ask them to take it off if you don't want to pat it. legally speaking it's not compulsory to pay a service charge.

It isn't compulsory even if it is added on the bill, just don't pay it if the service wasn't good enough!

no it is not compulsory to pay it, if u dont think the service was worth it, just deduct the amount from your bill. You dont have to pay it!

If it is a service charge then I don't think it is compulsary....so you can refuse to pay it...even if it is shown on the bill.
