Question:

What is making me get dizzy, very nervous, my heart races, and i feel like im gonna pass out...?

i'm 19 and i feel like I'm in this dream. I feel so weird and i have a hard time doing my college work and i feel like im just gonna hit the ground any minute. It's almost like being drunk all the time. I get cold, then i get hot. my heart races, once i thought i was gonna have a heart attack but i didnt, its been like this for 2 weeks now. WHAT'S DOING THIS AND HOW CAN I TREAT IT??!

  1. I was going to say the same thing.  Panic Attacks.  When you are in college and starting a life as an adult, all of a sudden you have all these expectations that are put on you for the first time in your life and even if you don't realize that this stuff is piling on, it does!  

    I started exercising too, although the medications that the other poster suggested are good, but a good natural outlet is to get the serotonin rebuilt up in your brain by some good old fashion exercise and you don't have to LOVE exercise to find something fun to do!  Just going for a walk, bike ride, even playing a video game!  I am almost 40 and play Guitar Hero with my 16 year old and it is a great release!  Good luck!

  3. The other 2 answerers are right. They're panic attacks. You need to check in with your doctor to make sure you don't have a physical condition causing these attacks, though. Typically, you don't but just make sure. I just went through the same stuff in April. I was put on an anti-depressant (Lexapro) and take xanax. I am now able to start tapering myself off the xanax and am doing great! I suggest you get in with your doc and tell them how severe your problems are and they'll fit you in quicker.   4. You definitley are having what sounds like a panic attack or an anxiety attack. Those are the exact symptoms and when you are feeling anxious you do feel like you are in a dream.. It causes dizziness and if you are sweating it can make you feel cold, then hot, your heart races.. You are having panic attacks just because its called a panic attack doesn't necessarily mean that you are panicking they come from being anxious or having racing thoughts.. I suggest seeing a doctor becuase it sounds like it is interfering with your schooling which is bad and could get worse before it gets better. If you'd rather not get put on medication I suggest deep breathing techniques and exercise..  Good luck and I wish you the best!

  5. To tell you the truth it sounds like you are having a panic attack.  Those are the same symptoms I get when I have an attack so maybe you should see a doc about this.
