i have a 94 conversion van

for some reason my van gets hot under the ignition and near the drivers feet. the ignition sensor is fine. it was checked. theres no wire hanging or touching something

the engine does not get hot, temp is fine

i put a brand new muffler and converter on and it ran great for almost 2 months now.

why is the iginition and only one side of the floor getting hot. so hot you cannot even touch the ignition or the floor.

also, when i put the car in reverse it clanks a few times then shuts off

  1. Change coolant

  2. Best get it checked out> as they might of put the new ex to close to the floor>

  3. Wow.. there's a lot of wire right where your're talking about, including a bunch of "wiring Harness".  For your own safety, don't keep fooling with people like me online first. A doctor cannot diagnose a brain tumor over the phone, and this is not unlike that. You said you had something "checked"...Get your van to the NEAREST mechanic who can at least look under your dash and asure you that you won't die in a flash fire. NO mechanic would ever charge you  to at least look that far. THE HEAT YOU DESCRIBE IS AN EMMEDIATE THREAT TO YOUR SAFETY!

  4. I'm confused. Why is your ignition on the floor?

I'd hazzard to guess that your engine is renning too rich and causing the exhaust to get too hot.
