  1. Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD) is caused by lack of absorbable calcium in the reptile's diet.

Symptoms are tremors/shivers, dragging limbs, or unable to stand.  Bones are frail and break easily.  It can severely misshape limbs, and even eventually be a painful death.

He needs a good souce of UVB lighting (as well as a bit of real sun when the weather permits), and calcium powder with vitamin D3 (sprinkle on his salad).

You'll get a notice of answers to this question in your email.  I see no need to mail you there, as well.

Enjoy your pet, and I hope this has been helpful.

  2. MBD is metabolic bone disease. MBD is a weakening of the bones due to a lack of calcium or the proper lighting that helps reptiles absorb calcium. It is easily avoided by sprinkling your iguanas food with calcium powder found in most pet stores, and by using appropriate UVB lighting.

A reptile with MBD will have misshaped bones and be very frail.

  3. Metabolic Bone Disease.. Make sure Iggy is getting plenty of UV light, Calcium and Vit D..  Check this out
