ULIP - It is the short form of Unit Linked Insurance Plan. It is a market (Share market) linked investment scheme with life insurance. The invested amount is invested in various shares and some amount is deducted as life insurance premium. The NAV(Net Asset Value) of the scheme varies as per the market condition. LIC has many ULIPs like Money Plus -1, Market Plus -1, Health Plus, Profit Plus and Fortune Plus. Minimum amount that may be invested in ULIP is Rs.5000 per year. The units can be surrendered after 3 years and NAV prevailing at that time will decide the amount that will be given back. ulip is unit linked insurance plan and it works under a license given by the authorities to loot the people.  never go in for ulip. their administrative charges are very high and they eat up a large amount of your contribution. u are better off with any mutual fund under sip programme rather than ULIP

ULIP-stands for unit linked investment plan , There are very much similar to mutual funds but in ulip the investor is allotted units by the insurance company and NAV is declared for the same on a daily basis. One can say that ulip are mutual funds with insurance.
