What is meant by 3-star hotel,4-star hotel and 5-star hotel?

What is meant by 3-star hotel,4-star hotel and 5-star hotel?

3 star normally the cheapest, 5 the dearest but they can be as good depends on what you want/need expect in way of spa  pools etc

It just means the quality of the hotel, with 5 star being the highest quality and most expensive.

While the number of stars represent the quality of the hotel it also informs you of the facilities available.  You can have a lovely, upmarket boutique hotel with only 2 or 3 stars because it may not have a gym, beauticians or   cable tv in the room.  

So don't base your decision to stay somewhere based solely on the number of stars it has.
