  1. This looks like a religious question which should have been asked in the religion and spirituality section.

    My translation of souls weighed down is anything sinful or sorrowful weighs down the soul.  I am not Muslim so don't hold me to the right translation according to your book.  I would imagine that it is not too different from Christianity.
