  1. food related to jewish dietary laws. there is no blessing by rabbi's involved . this is a common misconception. rabbi's merely inspect a butcher or a kitchen, to see if they suffice in following the rules.

this means for the animal youre eating:

    - it must be freshly slaughtered.

    - it must be completely drained of blood

    - the meat may not be prepaired in or with dairy.

    - it must have cloved feet, and eat grass (cows, deer and sheep e.g.)

    - it's meat must have been cut, not torn.

    - fish must be scaleless

    - creatures with claws are off limits, crocodile, chicken, etc.

    - shellfish are off limits

meet all of those criteria, and meat is kosher. keep in mind though, that ince it has touched something not kosher, it can never turn kosher again. e.g. spill milk on kosher meat and it'll never be kosher again.

  2. kosher is related to the jewish dietary rules they eat bye. usually the food is prepared or fixed in a kitchen that was blessed bye the rabbi and has no pork products used in it in any form as well as the restricted seafood prepared or brought in.

  3. too involved to type for just 2

    edit

    mrzwink

so it is OK to eat shark but not Salmon

sorry I think it says MUST have scales

But I never read my post through

  4. mrzwink - I didn't know that about creatures with clawed feet - I know that jewish people don't eat pork, but I was sure that they eat chicken - else why would jewish mothers be renowned for making chicken soup?? I'm confused.

  5. Simply put, kosher meat products are prepared from the animal in a way that it was killed in the quickest and most harmful way.
