  2. i'm not a sociological expert, but maybe it refers to Freud's superego, you start of life with just the id, which is the me, me, me part of the brain, like when a baby crys at night, he doesn't care that his mother is asleep, hes hungry and wants food and thats all hes worried about, this baby will have to learn that he has to think of other people, other people have feelings to, so the child developes a superego. at the start his structural influences are just his mother and father, i can't call mrs hill fat cause mammy said it will hurt her feelings, we get more structural influences as we get older, teachers, peers and relatives but i think our parents will be the main contributor to our superego. a ego is also developed to balance the ID and superego but that for another show.
