I think a talent brings with it a dimension of UNIQUENESS not found in skill. A well-trained skillful violinist can give a splendid performance, but a really talented one can stir your soul. Yes. Ultimately, it's something unique to a talented person, therefore VERY personal, and when shared (or exhibited) connects at a PERSONAL level with others.

This also means that we may all have a talent unique to us - some get discovered, others don't. (Like it was only after watching 'A Beautiful Mind' that I discovered that I too could 'see' the abstract. Physically, tangibly, in frameworks. Immense self-discovery.)

Talent is similar to skill. Usually it refers to skill in an artistic sense, such as a 'talented' singer, a 'talented' marksman or a 'talented' craftsman of some sort. Talent is usually inborn and can be cultivated given the right atmosphere and opportunity. Some people are simply gifted with talent. Names such as Picasso, Da Vinci, Pavarotti, Tiger Woods, Michael Jackson, etc. come to mind.
