What is meant by the policy of divide and rule ?

This is already happening all around us but we have a defense mechanism in our brain to protect us from seeing this as real because people do not know what to do with such information and people are stressed enough (or preoccupied) with other things in life...and many other reasons.

It is easier to control smaller groups of people.

In sociology it most likely means that the dominant group in a society, will consciously or subconsciously cause a divide amongst those who have less dominance.  In doing so you would ensure those in less dominant groups would not ban together and threaten the dominance of the original group.

It`s merely trash & rule. It`s practised in dictatorships, were the leader is supreme. It`s about preventing underlings from sticking together.
