What is mexican giro?

I work at a grocery store that does western union and I noticed that there's one option to sendmoney to mexico called giro, and i also noticed that the exchange rate is different to snd giro. What exactly is giro?

  1. The word giro comes from the time of the telegraph. People used this means to send money from point A to point B. The word is loosing ground little by little.

    The different exchange rate is not so, it is a charge done either by Western Union in the USA or by Elektra in Mexico, or by both of them.

    It doesn't only apply to Mexico but to many other countries.  Just scroll down and you'll see where it is concerning Mexico.

    The second link indicates that it is a form of money transfer through Wester Union.  This link seems to be better than the first link.  I'd go with this link versus the first one.
