What is miss universe uk???

i know theres a seperate competition for miss wales...england..scotland..ireland..

but why a miss universe uk?? is it related to the actual miss universe?? surely if a girl was to win the title for wales,england,scotland etc they would represent THOSE countries? or do they compete for a miss uk overall?

THE MISS UNIVERSE UK COMPETITION is organised by Vibe Models and will take place in May 2008 at a location in the West Midlands. Around 50 women from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales will compete for the coveted title. Proceeds from the competition will go to The Joshua Foundation.

The selection process will begin with the online entry form. On receipt of the entries, Vibe will create a shortlist of candidates who will take part in a series of quarter-finals in Birmingham, Glasgow, Belfast and Cardiff. During the quarter-finals our candidates will be interviewed by a panel of representatives from Vibe Models. Around 50 women will then be chosen to take part in the grand final of Miss Universe UK 2008 in the Midlands in May where they will be judged by a panel from the world of fashion and celebrity.
