Why the h*ll is it that in Montreal, the gastronomic capital of Canada, one cannot find a decent southern-recipe barbeque of any type (not Memphis, not Carolina, not Kansas City, not Texan, not anything!)?

  1. Uuh --- Aah -- like everything. Get to NYC as fast as you can before something rots off.

  2. MESQUITE. Decarie, near the Villa Maria metro.

Pulled pork, cornbread, ribs, etc. It's DELICIOUS.

I hope I've made your day!

Ok... I read your rant. I've eaten BBQ in Austin, Texas at two of their most beloved places, and while Mesquite isn't A list, it's certainly not the pile of s**t you make it out to be. It's a good restaurant with a steady clientele.

If you want authentic southern bbq, then maybe you need to go to the source. Montreal ain't Memphis... and why should it be?

  3. it is waaaaay too french, thats the problem

  4. Calm down.  Just get some smoked meats.  Montreal has that, and it's good stuff.

  5. Lisa - Montreal has it all - just have to look for it !

  6. TRY http://www.mesquite.ca/

    THEY HAVE ALOT OF INFO

  7. Answer my question and be my guest enjoy

  8. There used to be a place, I think in NDG, that was called La Louisiane. Did it close down? I think it may have.

I still like Bar-B-Barn, but I guess you'll shoot me.

  9. I live here & often wonder the same thing. Everything just seems to be so behind when it comes to other cultural fare.  We seem to be stuck in a rut when it comes to expanding the gastronomic menu, culturally.
