  1. Limoncello isn't a mixed drink (and Olive Garden isn't an Italian restaurant, but I digress).

Limoncello is made by infusing grain alcohol (100 proof vodka, usually) with the peel of many lemons.  It is then sweetened with simple syrup and served from the freezer as an aperitife.  It's easy to make, but it takes a couple weeks at least.

  2. I say the best drink that goes with any red sauce pasta is wine, red wine. Sweet not dry. Dont know about the chelo but you cant go wrong with the wine.

  3. Something light definitely:

Vodka and lemonaide might be nice

Some sort of red or blush wine spritzer

  4. Limoncello is a digestif...you're supposed to drink a little of it after a meal but of course Americans just drink too much of it and usually get drunk. Because limoncello is mostly alcohol, it probably has too high an alcohol content to be used as a beverage with a meal unless you water it down with seltzer.

Traditionally mixed drinks are had before a meal and rarely with a meal unless it's an ethnic pairing like margaritas and Mexican Food.  The italians drink wine with their meals if they're having alcohol and save the mixed drinks for before or after dinner.

A good rule of thumb is to pair food with the wine that comes from the same region and the earliest known region that Lasagna comes from in Italy is Rome (though it takes it's earliest beginnings from Greece).  Frascati comes from Rome so if you're making a vegetarian lasagna, this wine will pair well with it. Frascati is a lighter white wine and won't stand up to heavy meaty lasagne. But if you're making a meat lasagna which will make it more like a Bolognese dish a Lambrusco or Sangiovese will go well with it.

  5. I would think a traditional Martini would be amazing with lasagna, maby a "dirty" martini.   with the vodka/gin and vermouth, contrasting with the olive brine, i think it would compliment the italian lasagna very well.
