  1. Morality (from the Latin moralitas "manner, character, proper behavior") has three principal meanings.

In its first descriptive usage, morality means a code of conduct held to be authoritative in matters of right and wrong. Morals are created by and define society, philosophy, religion, or individual conscience.

In its second, normative and universal sense, morality refers to an ideal code of conduct, one which would be espoused in preference to alternatives by all rational people, under specified conditions. To deny 'morality' in this sense is a position known as moral skepticism.[1]

In its third usage, 'morality' is synonymous with ethics, the systematic philosophical study of the moral domain.[2]

And Oh! I do try to be,lol

  2. morality is the difference between the law and what we believe is right and wrong. For example it is not illegal to sleep with a bunch of people but we know in our minds that it is not right.

  3. Generally speaking, I would consider morality to be the "Golden Rule".

Do unto others as you would have done to you.

I don't want people telling me who to sleep with, what to eat, what to believe or how to act.  So...I try to treat others the same way.  I stay out of their personal affairs and try not to purposely hurt them.

  4. Morality:

a personal or social set of standards for good or bad behaviour and character, or the quality of being right, honest or acceptable:

They argued for a new morality based on self-sacrifice and honesty.

I have to question the morality of forcing poor people to pay for their medical treatment.

    Moral:

The moral of a story, event or experience is the message which you understand from it about how you should or should not behave:

And the moral of/to the story is that honesty is always the best policy.

Yes I consider myself to be moral. I am an honest person and do my best to not be cruel, to not lie, to not manipulate people and to not feel spite.

No morality should never change from culture to culture. You're either good or bad, there is no in-between. In other words there is no grey color when it comes to morals.

It's either black or white. Though morals could come in levels; while someone will always refuse to accept money that they have not sweated for no matter how desperate they are for that money and in spite of them not committing anything wrong in accepting that money, others will accept it for example.

  5. Morality is a persons' consciousness of being a good person and maintaining the proper mentality toward humanity and life. A person with morals will not support or do evil things.

Moral individuals are spiritual and help humanity.

Yes, I consider myself to be a moral person with a set standards.

  6. Hi Philanderer

I think morality is living by your beliefs. Assuming of course that your up-bring taught you some decent standards. That is decent by society's general acceptance. A moral person does that.

Having said that using today's standards isn't a very good example. Society's morals are in decline. But I guess that's life. The cycle will complete & sometime in the future we will again have ridiculously rigid moral standards.
