  1. It is definitely better to take both because many people do better on one test than the other and the only way to tell is to take both. Many colleges also have a preference as to which they would prefer to have. If you live in the midwest the ACT is typically preferred, while many coast colleges like the SAT.

  2. SAT I think.

  3. The ACT is easier on your part...

so i would go with that

  4. I was told by the counselor that if you plan on going to a community college the SAT and ACT don't matter. after one quarter @ a Community college that is the only thing that matters, those grades, not the sat scores

  5. There's no benefit for one or the other. However some schools prefer the SAT. I'd take both and try for a better score if you're first run didn't go successfully.

Good luck and hope this helps.

  6. ACT is more universal...mostly all colleges require it, although some will take the sat or both. its really beneficial to take both.

  7. Depends where you are going to college, some colleges and universities prefer one over the other. The SAT is more popular overall but many liberal arts schools prefer the ACT. If you're not sure just go with the SAT...more widely accepted.

  8. sat some colleges dont even look at the act but i reccomend you take both it cant hurt

  9. the ACT is what most colleges accept

    fewer accept the SAT

but it is better to take both if possible

  10. both

  11. The ACT is a lot easier to take and guessing is recommended!

  12. the SAT is more widely accepted by colleges, but its very one dimensional and meant for the "perfect student." The ACT is overall a better test to take just because of the content, and that its not so conservative, but some colleges prefer you to take the SAT. However, times are changing and more and more colleges are seeing that the ACT is better, so if i were you, go ahead and take both!

  13. It depends on your test-taking style...

The SAT has a few longer sections, but also has many short, 25-30 min. sections.  If you take the SAT, some selective colleges might require you to take SAT II subject tests.

The ACT consists of about 4 long sections (unlike the SAT, you take an entire subject, such as math, all at once).  Personally, I found this harder as it allowed for fewer quick breaks inbetween, which I felt helped me focus better on the SAT.  Also, the ACT covers science, which is mostly, but not entirely, reading and interpreting graphs and experiments.

You should check to see what tests are accepted at the colleges you are interested in, and possibly consider taking both - some students simply do better on one rather than the other for whatever reason.

  14. I find the opposite, at least in this area. More selective schools depend on the ACT, since it has been shown to correlate strongly with successful college performance. You should take both, though.  Also, I very much recommend taking the ACT twice. Very few people work quickly enough the first time around.

  15. It depends on what college you want to go to and in-state college or out-of state collge..
