  1. why do you want to hurt people?

I would say muay thai is more combat effective.

  2. kickboxing is just full contact karate basically.

whats more dangerous? getting your head bashed in with a hammer, or a ball bat? either way you get your head bashed in.

  3. Kickboxing.

  4. they are the same in kick boxing there is no kata or forms- but in karate there are forms , its all the same-sandman

  5. Karate, hands down.  Here is my top 10 list of martial arts styles, the criteria being energy efficiency, how well the style harnesses what the body can do, and how well it uses the laws of physics with as little of the body's resources as humanly possible;

    1)  Tai Chi Chuan, the Yang Long Form, all 5 frames, practiced as a martial art.  The one you see in parks is either the shortened 24 form, the 37 step Cheng Ma'n Ching form, or, the 108 step rudimentary Yang Long form.  The 108 step one common the world over, again, is only the basic form; the other 5 are not taught to the public.  It is a rumor that has persisted for years in Tai Chi circles and considering Kung Fu's secretive nature, I would not doubt that there isn't some foundation to that rumor.

    2)  Shaolin Kung Fu, or, pretty much any member of the "hard" Kung Fu styles.  Very energy efficient; the circular motions waste little energy, and as any physics geek will tell you, as something moves around in a circle, it gathers power.

    3)  Shuia Jiao

    4)  Karate, any style, if Kata is emphasized, as well as makiwara board drills among other things.

    5)  Judo, old school catch, and old school BJJ.  Watch Helio, and then watch Royce; you will agree with me there has been a skill deterioration.

    6)  Old school Western Boxing, specifically, boxing as it was from the 30's to the 1960's before its decline.

    7)  Muay Thai; easy to learn, easy to use, but its emphasis on power moves mean that if you miss, a competent wrestler, Judoka, or an old school Karateka can easily take advantage.  Same with and old school boxer.

    8)  Krav Maga for its slick disarms.

    9)  BJJ as taught now.

    10)  Sanda, which I call "castrated kung fu" or "eunoch kung fu."  Call me a purist, and an obsessive fan of the Shaolin, but to me, Sanda is the final insult the PRC has given to Kung Fu.

Why is Karate more dangerous?  Didn't you watch fight science on nat geo?  A punch has been conclusively proven to generate more power bare fisted, than gloved.  A Kick boxer fights with gloves, so hand conditioning is a moot point with them, a traditionally trained Karateka on the other hand hardens their fists to where they are like cement, taking into account that if they get in a fight, it will be bare fisted.  Buying too much into Hollywood, Americans, in all honesty, are dumb; they have absolutely no clue how much an old school trained Karateka can injure somebody.

The martial art is so cold blooded, truth be told I would much rather be doing Aikido.  Let me tell you that lately, not a minute goes by that I don't wish I had not taught myself those Kata.  I started Karate as a kid, made it to orange, school closed down and was forced to buy a Kata manual.  I have been drilling in basics and Kata since I was 24, taking a brief 6 month hiatus in 2007.

Analyzing every move very carefully, I honestly wish I hadn't learned it.  To me, competently learned or not, Karate is way too dangerous.  See with Shaolin Kung Fu or Aikido, I could dodge all day without hurting anybody.  Karate doesn't really give you a choice, and that is why I hate it.

Now, if I lived in Israel, surrounded by ashkenazi Jews, and Arabs, I would not regret knowing Karate.  Against those people my conscience has no qualms.

  6. it depends which one hits you first

  7. well ti depends where you train it kick boxing is really a mixture of mauy thai and karate so if you find somewhere decent training it it would be more dangerous but if you just go to the gym then it is mainly just a work out not actually working on fighting.
