What is more important- the degree or the university??

i wanna know what should be given the first preference while deciding on which college to go to- the degree, even if it is not from a very reputed college, or the university, even if the program it offers is not exactly your first choice.

if you are going to best like IIM,IIT...then, course is not a matter....or any best university you are into where you have job.but if you go to unnamed then, you must opt for your course first.

but, above all if you have the interset and the knowledge, hard work, heart into then you will do the best where ever you are...select what your mind and heart gives a preference.

Take it from a graduate.... The University

My first in Mechanical Engineering and applied Physics pales next to the Sociology graduate with a 2:2 from Cambridge.

In the UK, it is the rule of the old school tie!!! Graduate schemes are heavily biased towards the established Universities, so think on, MacDuff.

Well, of course you want a program you love (since it could very well possibly be what you do for the rest of your life).

As long as it's not from some online college, the college probably isn't a deciding factor to employers. If you went to a big public university like Ohio State University, it wouldn't be regarded to be any lower than a small and private college. It's important though that the college you go to specializes in the degree you get there.

HELLO !!! what a question ???? ofcourse BOTH are important, if you go to Harvard and study fashion you are hardly going to get anywhere because Business and Law is what Haravrd is known for. So the college as well as the degree matters. Go for both and study hard. Go for an excellent collee and if you dont get your major try again ! because if you compromise on either one you aint gonna b happy. Undergraduate label the aim should be acquiring a Degree, but for post Graduate it must be the University from where you are getting your Post Graduate Degree.
