  1. I don't know many people who are offended by a God they cannot see... I know lots of people, however, who are offended by the bigotry and hatred of people who believe in a god they cannot see.

  2. Honey...

I've never heard of a person being offended by imaginary things.

  3. The first has logic because they have faith, they believe in their thinking, their feelings, their notions. We all have thoughts and emotions, and these things are not visible, and yet we believe in them.

The second is ridiculous, as how can one feel offended by someone or something one believes doesn't exist.

  4. Obviously, the more ridiculous would be a person who is offended by a God they say doesn't exist.  Because it is not ridiculous to believe in a God we can't see since we believe in many things we can't see such as wind, gravity, etc.  We can see the effects of these things.  In the same way we can see the effect of God all around us in the things he has created.

  5. We cannot see God, but we can see a mass of evidence for the existence of God.

  6. Depends on what you mean when you say "offended".  Make your motive clearer and I can provide an honest answer.

  7. Definitely the former. Very few atheists are offended by a god. Usually we're only offended by the people who shove their invisible god on us, not the god itself.

Although Santa did call me a wimp the other day, and that offended me...

  8. ...both.

  9. I don't think anyone can be offended by a god they don't believe exists but plenty of people can be offended by believers in such an entity who use their belief to force their bigotry, prejudices and opinions on others.

  10. I'd say the latter, most definitely.  Because if He doesn't exist, then why are they offended by Him?

  11. Atheists aren't offended by god, but sometimes the people who follow god offend us.

  12. The first one.

I don't think anyone says they are offended by things which don't exist. That's like being offended by santa.

  13. A person who thinks said imaginary God is what I find offensive.

    That's what's truly ridiculous.

It's not God that riles me up. Just his followers.

  14. God doesn't offend me. The ignorance of those who believe in their spiritual fairy tales insults intelligence.

  15. The latter...

  16. No one should be offended by someone believeing in a different god, or aa lack of a god.

    is that what you mean?

  17. I'm never offended by the god of the Bible. I merely state that I would be if he were to exist.

  18. The second.

Though I can personally say I cannot be offended by something that doesn't exist.

  19. Who's offended by a non-existent god?  Surely that's not possible!

I get offended by fundamentalists attempting to hijack secular society though

  20. We atheists are not offended by the nonexistent god; we are offended by those believers who live in a fantasy world which they endlessly force upon others.

  21. The first, because the second is right to be offended by laws passed in the name of a God that doesn't exist.
