  1. I give the edge to race, but don;t forget class and financial status

  2. in america ... friends and family.

gender is an important part of most families.  most families are of one  race, but some are multi-racial.

therefore different genders is the norm and different races is less so.  how significant that is, idk.

  3. Race, ethnicity, gender and social class are equally important because they intersect with one another.  If we are to fully understand someone's identity or life experiences it is important to discuss all of these together, not in isolation of one another.    All of these (race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation, and so on) shape our perceptions of the world and what is going on around us.

  4. You left out the most important one -- socioeconomic class.  Unfortunately, in the US, race and class often coincide, but in general, people associate with other people in their CLASS.

  5. Gender of course--both male and female.  Without gender you can't have race or people.
