  1. Definitely that it comes from the heart, and that it's something I wanted and that goes with my life. I can be pretty tough on jewelry. In my case that it is NOT a diamond - I hate diamonds.

  2. Well I thought it was the Carat, but then my fiance got me a .81 with the best color you can get and it looks huge because it is so clear!! I love it sooo much compared to some that look almost yellow!

  3. Whose hand it sits on.

  4. The love and commitment that it symbolizes, and that it came from him. By chance he chose the very ring I wanted =] Of the C's, however, I think cut and clarity matter more to be than the others.

  5. I think the most important part is the style. It has to fit with the style of the woman that wears it. The second thing would be the colour of the band. For example, if she always wears silver jewellery, white gold or platinum would suit her much better than yellow gold.

  6. Clarity. You can have a big diamond but if the clarity sucks then it isn't worth it.

  7. In terms of the 4 C's I personally lean towards cut because the quality of the cut determines it's sparkle, and to me that's is the most important thing about my diamond.

Yes the fact that it's from my fiance and he designed the ring himself and had a jeweler custom make it for me is really sweet.  But when you are asking about the 4 C's it's cut for me.

My diamond might not be a whole carat big, but it sparkles across the room!  I get compliments from strangers on the beautiful sparkle and glint of my engagement ring, and it is because of the high quality of the diamond.

In order of importance to me:

    Cut - sparkle factor

Colour - also affect the sparkle, less important if the ring is mounted in yellow gold.

Clarity - again, somewhat affects sparkle and glitter, but as long as the diamond is "eye clean" it should be a great looking diamond.

    Good Luck!

  8. The thought behind it.

After that, clarity, you can get a large diamond that sparkles, but generally the smaller ones have better clarity.

  9. Well, I don't care much about the size, so carat is not as important to me...

I think the Cut shoud be considered first, cause any diamond, with the best of the other 3 C's that isn't cut well, will not sparkle as much....

Color and clarity would come next...

Just make sure you can;t see any blemishes (inclusions) in the diamond. And get at least a near-colorless.

The best part, though, is knowing you aremarrying the best guy in the world!

  10. Well thats not the most important part of the ring, you're asking only about the diamond, assuming that a woman wants one.

For some the most important part of an engagement ring is getting one at all, and its strictly symbollic.

For me, it's the design of it, and whether or not I find it suits my character.  I think whether or not it suits her is most important, about the 4 C's.

Take a look at http://www.tacori.com their rings are so well designed.  As well, Tiffany's http://www.tiffany.ca/ are beautiful.  And I like some from http://www.benmoss.com/

  11. that it came from your true love's heart
