Mulch is a material (either something like ground / chipped bark or small decorative stones or pebbles).one places on the soil after planting. It is used to hold back weed germination, keep the soil temperature warm, and look pretty!

Here in Louisiana we use pine straw a lot for mulch because it is so available.  Mulches made from materials like tree bark that was once living will break down and enrich your soil; nonliving sources like stones just sit there!

Mulch is material placed over soil in you're garden. It's designed to retain moisture, deter weeds and keep the soil from eroding. Hope this helps
