  3. A multilateral agreement is a treaty signed by and binding upon more than two states. Many multilateral agreements create international institutions or international organizations.

  4. Was not sure how to explain this so had to check myself

MAI: Multilateral Agreement on Investment. An attempt by the OECD countries to push through an international agreement that would have forced countries to remove government regulation of investment and treat all investors equally, whether domestic or foreign. The UK government was a strong proponent, but the initiative failed due to a strong international campaign by people concerned about the effects it would have on poor people and the environment.

  5. when more htan one side agree to somehing? (duh)

  6. well, since you are asking this question in this section, then i assume you are talking about agreement between countries.

a multilateral agreement is an agreement between a number of countries under a multilateral forum. these kind of agreements are legally binding for the countries party to the agreement.

easy examples of a multilateral forum are the United Nations (UN) or the World Trade Organization (WTO).

i may add that the European Union (EU), Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), or similar organizations are not a multilateral forum, but more of a regional forum.

    hope this helps...
