  1. A Secondary Progressed chart is one of the more common techniques astrologers use to get an idea of how you are evolving and growing, and to see what changes are coming in your life.

Here's the technique: we count the number of years you have lived so far, and then use that number to count that number of days forward from your birth date. Then we set up a chart fir that day, using the same birth time & place... so if you are 22 years old, and you were born on, say, November 1st, 1985, we would set up a chart for November 23rd, 1985.

This chart indicates the deeper shifts inside yourself as you grow and evolves. So in a way of speaking, you will, throughout life, evolve into the next two or three signs in the zodiac depending on how long you live.

However, you will always first and foremost, be your birth sign. If you were born a Pisces, you will always be a Pisces, but after awhile, deep inside you, you will shift to Aries, and you will become a little more assertive, since Aries is that kind of a sign. You will still be a Pisces, but you will come to understand how to be more direct, more focused, etc. And then much later in life, you will shift to a Taurus perspective  on life, while still remaining very Piscean. It is a subtle shift, but it is a shift.

When I do a reading for a client, I do a natal chart analysis, and I look over the transiting planets to see the strongest upcoming influences, to see what outside events could occur... and then I use the secondary progressed chart to see what is going on inside the person. Have they shifted to the next sign? How are they maturing and growing?

This is a very basic description of secondary progressions and how astrologers use them. I hope it helps.
