  1. The BAB sledge hammer has once again come down, but as usual, I have to agree with his analysis. 5 years go you may have had a shot, but for the class of 2012 this past year I saw tons of kids with high ranks and 2250's get rejected early and regular. Being below top 5% is just a deal breaker at ivies other than Cornell and the rest of the top 20 or so right now. And SAT averages just keep going up, your current scores wouldn't make it much past their 25th percentile so getting in without a huge "in" is highly unlikely.

  2. Unless you're a severe minority, I think that even EA is out. All those extra-curriculars don't mean much if you don't have the test scores/class rank.

    There's a possibility though, so don't lose hope. :)

  3. Two of the 3 most important things are class rank and SAT/ACT scores. You are below average for both at Brown, a school that takes 13% of applicants, most of whom have the stats. Unfortunately I'd give you close to no chance even with average scores because they accept only about 7% who are not in the top 10% of their classes, and those folks are impact athletes, minorities, faculty kids and kids who have buildings named after them.

And P.S., if you want the slight tip that being first gen to go to college gets, drop any talk of rich kid activities.

This will be the hardest year in history to get into top colleges and being below top 5% without a hook won't cut it an any ivy, top U or top LAC this year.

  4. If they recruit for the equestrian team and you are a top pick of the coach, that would be the only chance I see. You are applying as a non citizen which makes it even harder. Your stats are just too low. Should you need any aid it gets to where you better be val with a 2450 as an international, with no aid just sal and 2250.

  5. Apply the worst they can do is turn you down then apply again.
