I've rented apartments for 2 years with no late rent checks, but this has not affected my credit. Other than this, I have no reason to have credit. So if I have no credit, do I have a credit score?

  1. 0. do you have a bank account? getting a credit card is a good way to establish credit, and you can get one through your bank.

    but, spend wisely.

buy a t-shirt, pay it off. buy a coffee, pay it off. buy a CD, pay it off...

  2. Offcourse you can have a credit score. Credit score intends to rate / rank your credibility / financial standing on which basis any financial institution can sanction your loan request. This is based on the net assets [net worth] you hold at that particular point of time and in addition your past dealings in meeting loan commitments, payment of dues in credit cards, etc. can and is usually considered to arrive at your credit score. There can be examples of person who have a high net worth but a low credit score based on their past history in settlement of credit dues / liabilities.

  3. No what you have to do is buy a TV or a car or something off HP hire purchase and pay it back over six, twelve months as you have agreed. Dont miss these payments and this will give you a credit history and proof. It goes into the credit isde of things. Paying a landlord for living doesnt cut it as you have to do this like everyone who rents. A landlord doesnt give out credit. Pay off a phone, its a proof of record and who you are and gives them a history. I went through this, I hate hire purchase and I went to get a car on HP and they said you dont have a credit rating, I said well thats a good thing ant it, I dont owe anyone any money. They said thats good but it doesnt give them a history of what you are like when you are paying see. If you have had HP before, then they know what you are like as a , A+ or D- customer. Hope this helps Robbie
