Hi - i was hoping someone knew of a website or something that could tell me what my recommended daily calorie intake should be for my size, s*x, age, build, height, activity etc etc.

Just to keep me going on a regualr day, not when on a diet.

  1. 2000 women 2500 men -- or that's what random food packets say... but you should have more if your doing a lot of exercise cos you burning energy...

    :P

  2. Hi. It's different for everyone and gender alone cannot decide.

For example I am 5'5 female 115lbs so you'd think my calorie intake would be quite low since I am light. However when you take into consideration that I exercise 6 days a week and sometimes twice in a day, my calorie intake should be 2000 minimum, and probably anywhere around 2200-2500. This would be to maintain this weight.

  3. First poster has no idea what he is talking about. Average values mean nothing for individuals. It's just a statistical number.

    Generally it is

[Your weight] x 15 calories = how many calories you should be eating to STAY the same weight.

That formula is a GENERAL guide line but you also have to take into account that individual's metabolism. If you naturally have a higher metabolism you can eat more. If your metabolism is a bit slower you should eat a little bit less.

  4. The RDA for women in UK is minimum 1500 a day. Men 2-2500 a day.

I think around 2000 is fine.

Edit. yewieh ; RDA means recommended daily allowance, it is on most food packets in UK, and is obviously a guide, so STFU.

  5. For women it's about 1500-2000 calories per day. But it depends on a few factors, such as your build and how often you do sport/are active (how fast you burn the calories off and your metabolic rate). I am quite slim and I would say I have 1000-1500 per day, but I don' worry if I have more. I find the best most effective thing if you are trying to lose/maintain your weight then just cut out bad fats.. Good fats like fish oils, olive oil etc are absolutely fine but stop having chips sweets ice cream butter cheese etc. Have more fruit and veg and fish and chicken instead of red meat. Also drink water it has many health benefits.
