Myanmar is the country offically recognized as Burma.  A very severe cyclone made landfall in the country on May 2, 2008, causing catastrophic destruction and at least 90,000 deaths.   56,000 people are still missing.

The Myanmar government is run by a military junta that is refusing disaster aid from several western countries including the United States.
