  1. It is a mutually beneficial or symbiotic association of a fungus with the root of a higher plants. Micorrhizal root have dance and woody growth of fungal hyphae on their surface, its shape is irregular, tuberous, nodulated or coralloid. The fungus remain restricted to the cortex part of the root. It usually remain in the upper layer of the soil where organic matter is abundant. Depending upon the residence critaria of the fungus , the mycorrhizae are of two types, they are ectomycorrhiza and endomycorrhiza.

The first catagory r present on the surface of the root and by sending its hyphae it absorbe water, releasing the inorganic nutrient and absorbe it and transfer it to root.

Maximum r second catagorylives in the cortex of the root and performing the same function as first one but these catagory is also called as VAM or vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza because its hypal tips in the cortical region of the cells become swollen to called as arbuscules.

  2. mycorrhiza, yes it is a fungus(pl.mycorrhizae)it is greatly associated with plants roots as the host some species of the genus Citrus usually profit its relationship between this type of fungi..their endosymbiosis is simple, the fungi dwell at the plant utilizing the sugars the plant produce like sucrose and glucose and in return the plant gets nutrients by discharging some nutrients this fungi give up..

but here's the consequences some plants become pale and unhealthy because of the "over populated"the fungi cause and this results as such.

  3. A mycorrhiza is a symbiotic (occasionally weakly pathogenic) association between a fungus and the roots of a plant. In a mycorrhizal association the fungus may colonize the roots of a host plant either intracellularly or extracellularly

  4. Ahhh mycorrhizae... it's not a plant, it is a fungus. Many scientists believe it is usually involved in a symbiosis with plant roots by increasing the uptake of nutrients into the plant and in return, the plant provides the fungus with sugar and water.
