  1. I guess its shopping online, adding clothes you want to the shopping cart and not actually checking out, but exiting out,

  2. It is when you are paid to go to a store and check out customer service and cleanliness and the company reports the results to the secretly shopped country/

  3. Only do it if you have absolutely nothing to do.

They only pay about $15 to $20 dollars per shop sometimes more for really complicated ones. You have to fill out forms and send the back the copy of the receipt and your assessment of the store that you shopped. This can be time consuming.

Aboutfacecorp.com is one of the legitimate mystery shopping sites that I know.

Beware, if any company asks you for any money upfront it’s a scam.

  4. it's often a scam, where companies will supposedly pay you to shop in their stores in order to evaluate the associates and how they treat their customers.

this is done, yes, but if it's advertised on the internet (saying you get to keep what you shop for) it's often bullshit b/c they can easily find people for these positions within their own companies.

  5. Mystery Shopping is being a regular customer, but when you are done, you report to a media research outlet that gathers retail customer service information.

Were you asked by a sales person if you needed help.

    Was the store clean?

Were you able to find items  that you were shopping for?

    - Some Mystery Shoppers have specific assignments for particular items.

Was the restrooms clean and well supplied?

Were you given a receipt for your purchase?

Did the person totalling your purchases greet you with a smile?

    Did they speak to you?

Did they say "thank you" and urge you to come back?

This information is then distributed back to the retail headquarters and used in improving customer service.

Some Mystery Shoppers are paid for their time and reimbursed for shopping trips.

Some of them do clothing stores, fast food, etc....

  6. Mystery shopping or mystery shopper?

A mystery shopper is a hired person to go into a store undercover and then report back and explain how the service  he/she received was.

  7. A Mystery shopper is someone, usually hired by a store, to test the staff. Since it has to be someone unknown to the staff, a company will often use head office staff for the purpose.

Their job is to present the staff with an unusual request or by being obnoxious or by simply have a disability to test staff reaction and assess what training might be useful.

A detailed interview/written report will be required from the mystery shopper so that store bosses can see what happens when they're away.

  10. Mystery shopping is when someone is hired to go into a store and pretend to be a customer.  What they are really doing is seeing if the store is running well, customers are happy, and everything is in good quality.

  12. idk... what i thought of when i heard it was going to the store and asking a clerk to get you something random that they thought would look good on you... you know, like its a mystery what you are going to get. I don't know though, ive never heard of it...

or maybe having your friend go for you and buy you give them money to buy you something but you don't know what it will be.

  13. You go to a book store and buy a mystery,

I'm just joking.  Store will hire firms that send in "mystery shoppers" to purchase to purchase goods or services from a store, and then report on their experience.  It's a way for the store to learn what the customer experience in a store is really like.

  14. Companies like restaurants and retail stores hire mystery shoppers to come in, pretend they are guests and rate the service and products.  I work in a restaurant and we get mystery shopped all the time.  They look for specific things like are we upselling menu items, mentioning loyalty programs...  In my restaurant if we don't ID a shopper that looks under 40 we get fired!!!  The mystery shoppers get free stuff and usually paid a minimal amount.  Hope that helps!
