  1. First you have to understand that the utility companies are in the business of making money...TONS of money!  How do you do that?  Buy low and sell high...in some cases, you build your 'factories' where it is cheap to do so and cheaper still to operate.  Then your only problem is transportation of your goods to the largest consumption areas.

This is that has happened.  Utility companies have over built power plants in certain areas and are only running ar 55% or so of their total capacity.  This is because there arent enough customers/consumers in their area to use all the power they can produce.  This problem was solved by creating a link-up of all of the local grids to form a national grid which is operated by an independant consortium and over seen by the USDOE.

Now to our faces the government will say that this is to efficiently move power from one place to another....but the real reason isn't efficiency for OUR benefit, its efficiency for the benefit of the producers so they can sell ALL the power their power plant can produce.

Are you starting to get the picture?  Efficiency is never for the benefit of the consumer no matter how hard the producer or the government tries to sell that to you....the greater the efficiency, the higher the profits to the producer...ALWAYS!

The most frightening phrase ever spoken...."I'm from the government...Im here to help you."

    good luck....
