Natural gas is a conventional fuel, mostly consisting of methane (along with other thanes), and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal,plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope i spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

Alternative Fuels, also known as non-conventional fuels, are any materials or substances that can be used as a fuel, other than conventional fuels. Conventional fuels include: fossil fuels (petroleum (oil), coal, propane, & natural gas), & also in some instances nuclear materials such as uranium. Some well known alternative fuels include biodiesel, ethanol, butanol, chemically stored electricity (batteries & fuel cells), hydrogen, methane, natural gas, vegetable oil, biomass, & peanut oil.

Now alternative (or renewable) energy is a little different…

Renewable energy flows involve natural phenomena such as sunlight, wind, tides & geothermal heat. Each of these sources has unique characteristics which influence how & where they are used.

Natural gas is a gaseous fossil fuel consisting primarily of methane but including significant quantities of ethane, propane, butane, and pentane - heavy hydrocarbons removed later on as condensate - as well as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, helium and hydrogen sulfide.  It is found in oil fields (associated) either dissolved or isolated in natural gas fields (non associated), and in coal beds (as coalbed methane).

Compressed natural gas (methane) is used as a cleaner alternative to other automobile fuels such as gasoline (petrol) and diesel. As of 2005, the countries with the largest number of natural gas vehicles were Argentina, Brazil, Pakistan, Italy, Iran, and the USA. The energy efficiency is generally equal to that of gasoline engines, but lower compared with modern diesel engines.

Besides being less harmful compared to petrol/ diesel( still not friendly), another reason natural gas is friendler is it has rather abundant as it has less uses than crude oil. Infact some companies used to BURN them off for safey reasons.

Natural Gas is a mixture of several hydrocarbons,it can be found as a byproduct in petroleum wells.Its main compound is methane(80%),it contains ethane(13%) and many other hydro carbons.It basically used for domestic purposes,it can also be used to heat boilers in industries,it can be compressed to be used as CNG(compressed natural gas) as a substitute to petrol.

natural gas is a fuel that used to heat buildings, dry clothes,heat water and even to help in producing electricity.natural is really a mixture of gases that formed from the fossils remains of the ancient plant sand animals buried deep in the earth the main ingredient in the natural gas is methane.it sometimes also called a gas,but don't confuse it with the gasoline that runs your car.gasoline is a liquid,while natural gas is...you guessed it...a gas!
