Also what kind of BOV makes that cool whistling sound? i was told RFL but that isn't much help lol i need more of a type or model. any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

  1. u will also need, intercooler, pipeing, headder, egt sensor, boost gauges, some misc lines and hoses, air cleaners, and more depending or what the motor is, weither ur building on a stock motor or a forged internal motor, mostly all aftermarket bov's make a whisteling sound

  2. You'll need:

-Turbo (learn to read a compressor map for this one)

    -Exhaust manifold

    -Downpipe

    -Intercooler (as well as piping)

    -BOV

-Engine management system (if you plan on running higher levels of boost)

    -Turbo Timer

-External Wastegate (if the turbo does not have an internal one)

Most BOV's are universal, so regardless of which one you get, you'll just want to make sure they are configured for the correct pressure for your setup (i.e. you don't want them releasing your hard earned boost into the atmosphere because they are sprung too weak). All Vent-to-Atmosphere types make some kind of noise.

All turbos are cooled and lubricated by oil, and some are cooled by water, too. You'll need a source for the oil and a return as well (to return it to the engine's sump), as well as lines and bungs.

It'd also be a good idea to get a wideband O2 sensor and controller, and learn how to use it and integrate it into your engine management system.

The reason turbo kits cost so much, is that they are tested to work with your application. When you begin building your own turbo kit, you'll find that little bits and pieces add up very quickly.
